The Junior Entrepreneur Programme (JEP) is yet another exciting initiative that we are proud to be involved in, here at Muire Gan Smál. JEP brings a fresh and exciting approach to teaching and learning. It engages pupils of all aptitudes and helps develop invaluable life skills while covering core aspects of the curriculum.The programme is co-ordinated by our 5th & 6th class teacher, annually.
Under the guidance of their teacher, our senior girls are given the opportunity to discover their strengths and talents both as individuals and as part of a team. Together, they generate and develop a business idea. They conduct market research, produce their product or service and find creative ways to promote it. We find this to be a programme that is both enjoyable and empowering, helping our students to step outside of their comfort zones, take ownership of a real-life project and see it through to completion. It also affords us the opportunity to reach out to business people in our own local community, thus strengthening school-community links and affording our pupils the opportunity to engage with real life entrepreneurs.
