We were delighted that Muire Gan Smál was chosen to participate in the Creative Schools Programme, supported by the Arts Council. We’ve had a fantastic 3 years working with amazing artists and spending a lot of time talking about how we would like to be more creative. Our school continues to seek out opportunities to support creative expression as well as collaborate with a range of artists.
Creative Schools is a flagship initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme to enable the creative potential of every child. It is led by the Arts Council in partnership with the Department of Education and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media. Children work together on the Creative Schools venture, working closely with facilitators and creative artists. The initiative sees students afforded the chance to participate in arts and creative workshops with the creation of a long-term sustainable plan to increase teachers’ confidence in arts and creative teaching and provide further opportunities for students.
