Our school is proud to promote a vibrant and inclusive Active School culture that encourages all pupils to participate in a wide range of sports and physical activities. We are proud holders of The Active School Flag! We offer a strong basketball programme, with dedicated teams who train both during and after school in preparation for the Basketball Blitz. Football is also a key part of our sporting life, supported by our Kerry GDA, and we take part enthusiastically in Cumann na mBunscoil football tournaments each year.
All pupils enjoy in-school gymnastics classes, and we are fortunate to collaborate with MTU Sports students who share their skills and expertise to further enhance our physical activity programmes. Swimming lessons take place in the local sports complex, giving children the chance to develop essential water safety and swimming skills.
Our facilities are excellent, including an astro turf pitch, two spacious sports halls, and easy access to the An Ríocht track, all of which allow for a wide range of activities throughout the year.
Each year we celebrate Active Schools Week, where children get the opportunity to try taster sessions in Zumba, yoga, camogie, football, and more. We also celebrate Sports Day on the Rugby field, where pupils take part in exciting novelty races and fun challenges that they thoroughly enjoy.
Overall, our school’s strong commitment to physical activity ensures that every child has the opportunity to get active, build confidence, learn new skills, and have fun.
